Challenge Coins Aren’t Just for the Military

March 30th, 2012

Did you know that challenge coins have historical significance?  That’s right, they do!  Since World War I, military units have used custom challenge coins to reward honorable acts and exceptional people.  These symbolic tokens of appreciation are not just for members of the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines.  Businesses, organizations, sports teams, academic institutes, and clubs love challenge coins because of their attractive appearance and solid design.  In fact, when it comes to award items, custom challenge coins are often the first item to be considered.

Custom challenge coins are great for rewards programs and awards ceremonies.  They are designed by the customer and reflect the values, interests, and mission of the companies, groups, and organizations that they’re made to represent.  What this means is this.  No two challenge coin designs are exactly alike.  That’s because they’re customized in a variety of different ways.

In addition to using a company or group’s logo, mascot or photographic image along with text, challenge coins can be created in a variety of size, shapes, and styles.  This helps accentuate the artwork on the coin and also make it easier for others to recognize them from a distance.  If your logo or mascot is on a custom challenge coin, it helps others associate your product, services, employees, players or students with the message on the coin.

Other things like 3D molded images, decorative edges, and sequential numbering play a part in making custom challenge coins extra special.  For example, imagine the mascot of a college basketball team coming to life on the front of a custom coin.  This is a great way to gain fans and to promote the team’s upcoming season.  It also helps sell coins at fundraisers.  Small details like these help business, organization, sports team, college and university, and club challenge coins stand out.

The Birthday of the Marine Corps

November 10th, 2011

Many people consider November 10, 1775 the birth of today’s United States Marine Corps.  That very day, Captain Samuel Nicholas formed the Continental Marines of the American Revolutionary War by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress.  Today marks the 236 anniversary of this date.  Marines worldwide celebrate this momentous event with military balls.

Each location determines the location of their birthday ball.  For example, the 2011 MCAS Marine Corps Birthday Ball will be celebrated at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center in Savannah, GA.  All of the Air Station’s Marines, Sailors, Department of Defense employees and their families are invited to attend. This year’s Marine Corps Ball will allow Fightertown’s Marines and Sailors of all ranks and grades to celebrate the Marine Corps Ball and reflect on the Air Stations accomplishments.

Celebrities frequently attend military balls when asked.  This year, Mila Kunis, Betty White, and Justin Timberlake have been asked by Marines to attend the special events in their areas.  In the past, Kristin Cavallari and Miley Cyrus were asked.  Having a celebrity as a date has its benefits.  There will be plenty of photo opportunities to take advantage of.

On behalf of Lapel Pins R Us, we want to wish all of our Marine Corps customers a very safe and enjoyable time at their birthday ball.  Semper Fi!  May this year’s event be as memorable as it was in the past.

Custom Coin Shapes Add a New Dimension to Military Designs

October 6th, 2011

Since World War I, custom challenge coins have been used to honor good deeds.  Members of the military that show exceptional character and perform heroic acts are richly rewarded with a gift of gratitude.  These tokens of appreciation are almost always in the form of the challenge coin.  Symbolic in nature and full of personal meaning, they are the type of memento that everyone can appreciate.

Custom challenge coins can be made in any shape imaginable which adds to the overall design and giving the keepsake item a truly unique appearance.  As you can see from the picture featured here, the customer that contacted us requested a special triangle shape for the unit’s custom coins.  We were more than happy to honor the request and encourage our customers to infuse their creativity in the design ideas that they submit to us.  This adds to the attractiveness of the coins and makes them have higher perceived value than other types of award items.

Different sizes and types of plating make a dynamic and unique design.  When combined with antique plating and color fills, challenge coins become a work of art that lasts a lifetime.  Members of the different branches of the military proudly display their gifts in velvet boxes and coin capsules.  This helps protect the challenge coins and also makes great presentation options at awards ceremonies and other military events.

If you want an item that impresses day-in and day-out, you’ll consider creating custom challenge coins in different sizes and shapes.  You can also make them even more attractive by adding a custom edge, 3D molded image or sequential numbers on them.  With Lapel Pins R Us’ help, the sky is virtually the limit.

Visit our challenge coin page located at http://www.lapelpinsrus.com/challengecoins.html/, email info@lapelpinsrus.com or call 1-800-480-6822 to order you own custom shaped challenge coins today.  We can create them any way that you like.  Just contact us with your ideas and we’ll get started on a full color digital proof for you.  It will be delivered to your email address free of charge along with a price quote after you submit your inquiry.

Challenge Coins, What Can You Use Them For?

September 27th, 2011

Challenge coins are as unique as the people that order them.  They are extremely versatile which adds to their appeal.  The military uses them to show pride in their unit, base, and branch of service.  They also use them to award special merit for a job well done.  Soldiers use them as a badge of honor to keep and trade with other members of the military.  These items serve as the ultimate keepsakes because they remind their recipients of past tours of duty.

Custom Challenge Coins Are a Favorite Among Businesses and Organizations

Challenge coins are not just for the military.  In fact, businesses of all sizes use them for advertising.  Because of their portable and custom nature, they are great to use at trade shows or conventions. You can put your company name on one side and on the other side you can show your logo, web site or other important information about your company or organization.  This helps draw interest in the products, services, and events that you are trying to promote.

Challenge Coins Come in a Variety of Sizes, Shapes, Styles, and Colors

Custom coins can be created in a variety of sizes, shapes, styles, and colors.  They can feature 3D images or be sequentially numbered.  They can be single or double sided and designed to include a motto, logo or important message.  Custom challenge coins transcend time because they are classic, personal, and relevant.  Since World War I, they have been used to honor exceptional individuals and their good deeds.

Custom challenge coins are the future.  They are notable and draw attention wherever they go.  Visit http://www.lapelpinsrus.com/challengecoins.html today to see examples of coins we have created for customers in the past.  Call 1-800-480-6822 toll-free or email info@lapelpinsrus.com.

Choosing a Unique Shape for Your Custom Challenge Coins

March 18th, 2011

At Lapel Pins R Us, we like a good challenge.  This is evident by the great amount of time and effort we put into making unique items for our clients.  In fact, when it comes to challenge coins, we like to think that the only limit is your imagination.  If you can think it up, we can make your ideas come to life with custom artwork and quality craftsmanship.

Spearhead Shaped Challenge Coins

Here’s a great example for us to use.  The 18th Infantry Regiment 2nd Battalion wanted something unique to give to members of its unit.  They opted to create a spearhead shaped challenge coin that doubles as a dog tag.  The handy loop built into the coin’s design increases its value by making it sentimental and practical.  We get a lot of requests for these types of coins.  Members of the military like to display their pride in a way that is noticed by others in their community.

Rooster Shaped Challenge Coins

A really unusual challenge coin that we created was this rooster shaped one.  Featuring the head of the familiar fowl along with a shield, this classic design draws attention to it wherever it goes.  This black nickel plated coin demonstrates the capabilities that we, as challenge coin manufacturers, possess.  Your products do not have to be the standard round shape that you see so often.  They can be any size, shape or style that you require.  In fact, that’s what makes custom items so appealing.  They can be designed in a way that directly reflects your unit and its mission.

Custom challenge coins are extremely popular in today’s culture.  They have been solidifying relationships since World War I.  These items of merit are not just limited to the military.  In fact, businesses, academic institutions, and sports teams use custom shaped challenge coins for a variety of uses with the most common being a way to reward exceptional individuals.
